Instructions for using these documents with Microsoft Word.

 

Most of our Agreements are formatted for your convenience using Microsoft Word.

The document comes to you as an MS Word Document and it is recommended that you save this original document as a template for future use, before editing the document.

Opening the Agreement.

You can open the Agreement by locating the folder it is placed in on your computer and double clicking on the file.

To Save the Document as Template - .dot file

Open the document your require.

Go to File, select “Save As”

In the Save as Type – Drop down menu – choose the “Document Template (*.dot)” option.

The file will automatically be saved in the Microsoft Templates Directory on your computer.

You can use this template time after time. Simply open the Template file and edit the fields as you require, go to print and then save as a .doc file (eg. Smith.doc).

To Open a Template .dot file.

Go to File, Select New – and you should be able to see your Template file listed in the General Window.

Ensure the Create New Document check box is selected.
Double Click on your selected Template Document to open.

To Add Your Personal Information to the document

You can add your personal information to the agreement just by clicking on the grey form fields and entering your text. Use the TAB key to move from one form field to the next.

If you cannot see grey form fields then the document is unlocked and you can simply edit in the appropriate places.

Locking or Unlocking the Document

You can also edit the main body or clauses of the agreement. To do so, you must unlock the document.

Click “View” in the top menu bar, and then select Toolbars/Forms. You should now be able to see the “Forms" toolbar in the top left of the screen.

To unlock the document for editing, click on the “padlock” symbol.

When you are finished making your alterations simply click on the padlock again to lock the document.
